Description

A. alpina is a native plant, 10–20cm/4–8in in height, suitable for the rockery.

Cultivation

Plant between mid-autumn and early spring in a sunny or partially shaded position. The soil should be kept well drained. After flowering, cut the plants back to just above ground level.

Propagation

The seed may be sown outside in March and can take six weeks to germinate. Transfer the plantlets to their permanent positions the following autumn. Alchemillas need to be lifted and divided every three years to stop them becoming overcrowded.
