Description
Height 45cm/18in, spread 15-23cm/6-9in. A bushy biennial plant usually grown as an annual in the UK. Ideal for mixed borders, rock gardens or pots on the patio. 'Blue Angel' is a popular variety.
Cultivation
Grow in any well drained and fertile soil in a sunny position. Dead head after flowering to encourage another flush of blooms. Herbaceous types should be cut down close to Ground level in the autumn. Anchusas are tolerant of chalk soils.
Propagation
Sow seeds of A. capensis in March and April where they are to flower or sow thinly in cell trays (modules) for transplanting into pots and tubs in early summer. early sowings can be made in January in a heated propagator set to 13-16C/55-60F.
