Description
Height 90cm-1.5m/3-5ft. A popular and easy herbaceous perennial with lots of good varieties to look out for including 'Dropmore', 'Royal Blue, 'Loddon Royalist' and 'Opal'.
Cultivation
Grow in any well drained and fertile soil in a sunny position. Dead head after flowering to encourage another flush of blooms. Herbaceous types should be cut down close to ground level in the autumn. Anchusas are tolerant of chalk soils.
Propagation
A. azurea is propagated from root cuttings taken between January and February. Root in pots filled with gritty compost in a cold frame or cold greenhouse and plant out the following autumn.
