Fairy rings

Circular patches of certain, clearly visible, fruiting fungi. They are often associated with a ring of dark green grass, the result of the extra nitrogen which the fungi releases during metabolism. The problem tends to occur during the autumn and early winter. The fungi will disappear when they have completed their growing cycle. They do no damage to the lawn itself and as they are only present at a time when the grass is not at its best the rings may be ignored.
