Brown rot
A fungal infection of apples, pears, and Prunus fruits. The spores enter damaged tissues, and the disease shows as spreading brown patches on the fruits. The fruits eventually become mummified and remain on the tree throughout the winter, carrying the disease over into the next season. Affected fruits should be destroyed.
